What is this?
Room features are areas of your room that bisect the regular shape, anything from a fireplace to an alcove. Take a look at the graphic below to get an idea of how it works.
About: Castle: King George
The Castle platform was created by the founder of the company in 2013 while working closely with sawmills in France & Holland.
In the 17th and 18th Century it was not uncommon for green, freshly cut French oak slabs to be used as flooring. This is where they are cut from a tree, air dried for a shorter period of time and then nailed to the supporting joists. Many months will have passed before each board reaches a suitable moisture level of 14-18% and at this point the boards will have been taken up and re-fitted to eliminate the gaps from between each plank. This gradual expansion and contraction of the wood over many, many years is a slow process.
We have used this same methodology combined with modern technology to speed up this fine art of wood shaping. Our finely calibrated process involves air drying each plank for a minimum of 3 months and then kiln drying each plank for a specific length of time and at a specific temperature to achieve a sufficient level of surface movement and a practical solution for flooring.
As its name suggests, our King George patina portrays a sense of English history. The darker shade of brown with a hint of ‘black’ conveys a feeling of luxury, traditionalism and warmth.
